Billy Spencer, 86, of Owensboro, KY, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on August 9, 1931 in Hancock County, Kentucky to the late Arnold and Stella Spencer. Billy retired from Modern Welding Company where he served as a superintendent of the pipeline, and plant manager in both Iowa and Owensboro, before going into corporate sales. He was a member of Grace Pointe Baptist Church, formerly Parrish Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was a graduate of DCHS Class of 1949, where he and Louise were high school sweethearts, and were married on December 25, 1949. Billy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, always putting his family first. He never met a stranger and always loved to talk and tell stories. He is preceded in death by his brother, G.C. Spencer; sister, Nelda Gilliam; and a great grandchild, Timothy Lamb.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Louise Pendleton Spencer; son, William "Bill" H. Spencer (Vicki); daughter, Deborah "Deb" Walker (Tim); grandchildren, Christy Herchenrader (Lou), William C. Spencer, Ashley Forrest (David), Chris Wolter, Kristen Lamb (Ronnie), Shannon Young (Jody), Beth Walker; great grandchildren, J.T. Wink, Austin Herchenrader, PV2 Ryan Herchenrader, Olivia Forrest, in addition to 17 loving great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Yvonne Emmick, Joline Reynolds, Charlotte Ball (Crandle), and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro officiated by Rev. Mitchell Donohue. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
