Donald William Barlow, 81, of Owensboro, died on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born August 24, 1937 in Mayfield, KY to the late William Norman Barlow and Evelyn Blalock Barlow. He was a teacher and football coach and later assistant principal at Owensboro Junior High School. Donald was a U.S. Army National Guard veteran and a member of First Baptist Church. He graduated from Mayfield High School and attended University of Kentucky where he played football for one year. He graduated from Murray State University and received his Masters and Rank 1 at Western Kentucky University.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brother, Gene Barlow.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sylvia Newbolt Barlow; daughters, Sylann Smith (Carl) of Bowling Green and Renee Belcher (Jeff) of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Cecilia Smith, Natilee Smith, Jackson Smith, Brandon Belcher and Nick Belcher; and two nephews, Marc Barlow and Brad Barlow.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and after 12 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
