Eloise Woods

Eloise Gaylee Woods, 76, of Owensboro, passed away peacefully with a gentle smile on her face Thursday, March 12, 2015, at home. She was born on May 14, 1938, in Boonville, Ind. to the late Harvey and Eva Norris Purcell. She was a homemaker.

She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She enjoyed eating out, and athletics, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Woods; a granddaughter, Jasmine Johnson; a son-in-law, Orlando Neyra Suarez; and two sisters, Barbara Purcell and Nell Winstead.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Louis B. Woods, her children, Glenn (Jeanine) Woods and Gazetta Neyra both of Owensboro; 13 grandchildren, Destiny, Geri, Bryson, Kennedy, Jai, Jamien, Brianne, Telum, Aija, Gazelle, Palaya, Ellie, and Ninena; 19 great-grandchildren, Tevin, Jade, Devaughan, Jaylen, Asarel, Malech, Jalana, Tomei, Aquila, Kaedin, Jakira, Jalilah, Jaziah, Darius, Zalaya, Zaria, Lemaj, Lyric, and Malaya; three brothers, Thomas Purcell Sr. of Rockport, Ind., Harvey (Shirley) Purcell Jr. of Evansville, Ind., and Walter (Janice) Purcell of Drury, Ill.; two sisters, Malinda Compton and Gloria (Fred) Bryant both of Evansville, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews.

No services will be held. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Haley McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home.
