Fern Stevens

Fern E. Stevens, 69, of Owensboro, Kentucky died Friday, December 21, 2012, surrounded by family and friends. She was born on January 28, 1943 in Owensboro to the late Thomas R. and Velvadean Turner. She was employed in fire restoration for Leonards Steam Way and was a member of the House of Prayer. Mother was best known for her perfectly clean home, her cooking and her love and strength. She was most proud of her granddaughter, Courtney Lynn Stevens. She was Courtney's "Mammy" and best friend. She loved "hanging" with all her sisters and lifelong friends, Diane Devins and Carol Coons, for good times. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Harold Stevens; her son, Harold "Bo" Stevens, Jr. (Sandra) of Sacramento, KY; her daughter, Christina Stevens of Henderson, KY; two grandchildren, Courtney Lynn Stevens and Sarah Elizabeth Stevens all of Owensboro; two brothers, Randall Turner and Thomas C. "Buddy" Turner; five sisters, Alice Boarman (Wayne), Becky Phillips, Nancy Gaddis (Phillip), Janice Hamilton (Junior) and Jo Turner Sosh; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date. James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.
