Gerald D. McCoy, 74 of Philpot passed away March 17, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mr. McCoy was born April 10, 1943 in Brownie, KY to the late Bill and Opal McCoy. Gerald married Donna Gayle Adams on October 21, 1961. He later became the owner and operator of McCoy Exterminating which he founded in 1971. He retired after serving the Owensboro area for almost 35 years. Gerald was a member and deacon of Masonville Baptist Church. His family has fond memories of camping with their father and mother when they were younger. Gerald adored his grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Mr. McCoy is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Donna Adams McCoy; two daughters, Karen Renee' Katchuk and husband Scott of Philpot and Kelly Mischell Wathen and her husband Chris of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Wesley Allen McCoy also of Philpot; four grandchildren, Morgan Katchuk Smith (Matthew) of Auburn, Alabama, Avary and Jake Wathen of Cincinnati, and Emily McCoy of Philpot; two brothers, Ray McCoy (Linda) and Ralph McCoy (Sue); sister Donna Sue Horn (Richard); numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 21 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Reverend Jerry Tooley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 am until 2 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathen's Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301.
