Gloria Wanda Winstead Horne

Gloria Wanda Winstead Horne, 89, of Owensboro completed her final battle and peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at the Heartford House in Owensboro, KY. Gloria was the second child of ten, born to the late Lee Chester Mae Dixon and Samuel P. Winstead on November 28, 1934. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifetime member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY where she was one of their oldest members. She was also a Sunday School Teacher and Choir Member. She had a long standing career as a Machine Operator formerly known as Pinkerton Tobacco Company, now presently known as Swedish Match. 

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband William B. Horne, Sr., a son Elisha Horne, a daughter Gwenda L. Willingham, her siblings Samuel L. Winstead, William R. Winstead, James R. Winstead, Sara W. Grundy, Bruce P. Winstead, Lawrence E. Winstead, Wilbur H. Winstead, Bettye J. Burns and daughter-in-law Janet P. Horne. 

Left to remember Gloria’s spirit are her sons William B. Horne, Jr and Walt B. Horne, grandsons Brandon J. Horne and Chancelor B. Horne, granddaughters Alexis C.  Riley and Brittany J.  Horne, 1 great- grandson, a brother Walter T. (Juanita) Winstead, a sister Judy W. (James) Pinnow, a sister-in-law JoAnn C. Winstead, along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and a special thank you to caregiver Shellie R. Moorman. 

Visitation from 5pm to 7pm at the church on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 and Wednesday from 10am until time of service. 

Funeral services will be held 11:30am Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church 2311 West 9th Street in Owensboro, KY.
