Hugh Owen

Hugh Curtice Owen, 87, of 1645 Linden Avenue, Owensboro, Kentucky, died Friday, June 10, 2005, at his home. He was born in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Theron and Josephine (VanCleve) Owen. He retired after 42 years of employment with Texas Gas Corporation. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a longtime member of the Campbell Club where he served on the Board of Directors. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1946 with a Bachelor’s degree in geology. He was an Army Veteran of World War II serving in the South Pacific for four years. He was preceded in death by his sister, Violet Owen Sellers and his stepfather, Hershel C. McKinley. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Roberta Wilson Owen; by his son, David Curtice Owen, II and by several nieces and nephews. Memorial services are at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2005, at James H. Davis Funeral Home Chapel in Owensboro. Visitation is from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday at James H. Davis Funeral Home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the donor’s favorite charity.
