James Vernon Dinning, 73, of Owensboro died Saturday, February 16, 2019 at his home. He was born in Owensboro, Ky. on August 5, 1945. He was retired from the Daviess County Sheriff's Department where he served as a Deputy Sheriff and DARE Officer. Vernon was a Vietnam veteran of the United Sates Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed the art of photography and enjoyed taking and developing pictures. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Anna Lee (Thomas) Jeffries.
Survivors include his companion, Scarlett Wilson; a brother, Donald F. Dinning of Owensboro; his children, John Michael Dinning of Owensboro, Sharon Lee Owens of Port St Lucie, FL and James Vernon Dinning, II of Rockport, IN; seven grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
