James Allen Morris

James Allen Morris, aged 83, passed away on November 12, 2023, in Owensboro. He was born in Daviess County on May 4, 1940, to the late James Walter and Anna Canary Morris. His early years were marked by a passion for farming, and he later transitioned to a career in maintenance at the Holiday Inn. Following that, he dedicated 15 years of his life to Wal-Mart before retiring.

James was a devoted member of Newman Baptist Church, where he found solace in his faith. He had a green thumb and loved tending to his vegetable garden. Another cherished pastime was fishing, which he often enjoyed with his beloved wife, Anna. Above all else, James treasured the moments he shared with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Anna Faye Leathem Morris; brother, Marvin L. Morris; and his great-granddaughter, Chelsea Carlisle.

Those left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Katherine Ann Bullard of Owensboro; four sons, James Allen Morris, Jr. of Owensboro, Randall Dale Morris and wife Angela of Henderson, Ronald Lee Morris (Sabrina) of Reo, Indiana, and Timothy Ray Morris of West Louisville; 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Thomas Ray Morris (Mary), Anna Jean Shock, Mary Ellen Pogue and Linda Sue Payne (Carl) and many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral for James Allen Morris will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with Brother Terry Staggs officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
