John S. Lahanis, 86, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at Hamilton Pointe. He was born to the late Sam and Jane (Niacaros) Lahanis. John was the owner of Sam`s Cleaners for over 34 years retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of the Korea War, serving in the US Air Force, he was a Life Member of VFW 1114, Funkhouser American Legion Post #8, 40 and 8, and Disabled American Veterans. John was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, life member of the FOP and served on the Police Merit Commission Board from 1975-1980. He is survived by sons, Sam Lahanis ( Sandie), Gus (Nina) Lahanis, Bill Lahanis (Kristi); daughters, Yana (Stewart) Lahanis Navarre, Meme (Jerry) Lahanis Sikes, Theodora (Thomas) Lahanis King; grandsons, Adam Lahanis, Zachary Navarre, Niko Lahanis, George King, Lucas and Marcus Lahanis; granddaughters, Alexandra Navarre and Lillian King; great-grandchildren Victoria Ake, Athena Nelson John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Georgia V. Tsoumas Lahanis, married 27 years, wife, Mary Adelman Lahanis married seven years; brother, Gus Samuel Lahanis; sister, Gustine Samuel (Lahanis) George, Theodore (Teddy) Sam Lahanis. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2018, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Ave. Evansville, IN 47714. Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. till service time at the church. Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 am Saturday, January 20, 2018, at St. Ananias Greek Orthodox Church, 3407 Bellemeade Ave, Evansville, IN 47714 with Father Daniel Hackney officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Owensboro, KY.
