Joseph Franklin Welsh Jr., 70, of Owensboro, passed away June 26, 2019. He was born in Daviess County June 22, 1949 to the late Joseph Sr., and Eva Welsh. Joseph was a Vietnam Veteran, serving two years in the Army, then two years in the Navy. He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan in 1981 with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice during his tenure with the Owensboro Police Department from 1975-1986. He enjoyed playing pool, fishing, and was sure to take care of himself with physical fitness. Joseph also enjoyed reading the Bible and playing checkers.
Joseph is survived by his sisters, Judy Ferlis (Robert), Nita Burg (Edward) and Janie Kessinger (Jerry); nieces, Amanda Minks, Emily Ferlis; nephews, Kevin Burg (Marylou), Dominic Kluck (Mendy), Jared Kessinger (Shannon), Paul Ferlis and Brian Ferlis, several aunts and uncles and a special friend, Carol.
The funeral service will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Help Office of Owensboro.
