Joyce Floyd

Joyce Anita Floyd, 65, of Owensboro passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at her home. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and special caregivers. Joyce was born February 16, 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late George W. Greenfield, Jr. and Anita L. Greenfield Owsley. She graduated from Owensboro High School in 1972 and attended Murray State University. Joyce majored in nursing before getting married and starting a family. She worked as a nurse's aide for many years and then spent several years at MPD. She retired at the age of 62. Joyce loved to read novels and spend time with her family. She also enjoyed the outdoors and helped her husband with his small lawn care business. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Joyce also was preceded in death by her step-father, William R. Owsley Sr.; two brothers, George W. Greenfield and William R. Owsley Jr.; and two sisters, Gwendolyn Williams and Beverly Slaughter (Dorsey).
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of thirty-seven years, Jon Floyd; two daughters, Lynnita Glass (Chuck) of Bowling Green and Amy Henderson of Owensboro; six grandchildren, Robert Johnson Jr. (Denise), Paige Glass, Adair Henderson, Amon Henderson, Aaron Henderson, and Adrian Henderson; great grandson, Robert Johnson III (Tre); three brothers, Richard Greenfield (Lou), James Greenfield and Myron Greenfield (Valerie); two sisters, Audrey Henderson (George) and Willene Husk (Bob); and a host of relatives and friends.
The family would like to express special thanks to Joyce's sisters, Willene and Audrey, her compassionate caregivers. The love and care you provided is beyond words. They also extend a thank you to the dedicated care provided by Hospice of Western Kentucky.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM Thursday at Zion Baptist Church, 2311 W. 9th Street, Owensboro, KY 42301 where visitation will be from 11 AM until 12 PM. Burial will be at Rosehill Cemetery.
