Julia Ann (Judy) Wetzel Hatfield, 69, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born August 4, 1949 in Daviess County, KY to the late Hugh Thomas Wetzel and Lovie McGehee Wetzel Mitchell. Judy was the co-owner of Wetzel's Supermarkets, which was founded by her father in 1940. She was a proud member of the 20 and 4 Club. Judy enjoyed many trips to the casino boat and spending winters in Sarasota, FL where she enjoyed watching beautiful sunsets. She enjoyed spending time and always laughing with her childhood friend Sherry Rhoads. Judy was also a proud participant in the Faces of Cancer Campaign in 2012 here in Owensboro.

Judy loved her family more than words can explain, she loved hanging out with her husband, children and her four grandchildren, she would always make sure that every family member was celebrated on their birthday every year. Judy was so very proud of each one of them, including her wonderful sons-in-law. She had just recently made the statement that "everyone has been so good and sweet to me through this long 23-year battle with cancer", which she has now beat and is celebrating in Heaven.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Don Wetzel.

Judy is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jack Hatfield; her daughters, Julie Warren and her husband, Matt, of Owensboro, and Carrie Kimbrell and her husband, Marcus, of Owensboro; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Will Warren, and Julia and Blake Kimbrell all of Owensboro.

The funeral service for Judy Hatfield will be Noon Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, with Dr. Donna Wilson Lanham officiating. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday till time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Rosehill Elmwood Cemetery.
