Laquita Alvey

December 3, 1933 — October 8, 2018

Laquita Joy Yeiser Alvey, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born in McLean County to Robert Carter and Maurine Troutman Humphrey. She worked at Texas Gas Transmission Corporation until her retirement, then helped her son at his pediatric practice for several years. Laquita was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where she was active in the choir, taught Sunday School, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School. She also visited those in the hospital and homebound.

She married Earl Fred Yeiser in 1953 and he passed away on July 6, 1968. She married James C. Alvey in January 1987 and he passed away on February 14, 2014.

In addition to her parents and her husbands, Laquita was preceded in death by a son, Donald Noel Yeiser; a brother, Gerald Humphrey; a sister, Judy Worth and a stepdaughter, Stacy Alvey Owens.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Michael Yeiser (Pamela); stepdaughter, Candace Alvey; grandchildren, Rachel Yeiser Knott (Kolby), Benjamin Yeiser, Adam Yeiser, Josiah Murphy (Gracie), Ross Murphy; great-grandchildren, Everly Michelle Knott, Lillian Reese Knott, Liam Atticus Murphy and Scarlet Lucille Murphy; and a sister, Joan Humphrey Thompson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am on Friday, October 12, 2018 at Bellevue Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory and from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
