Bowling Green - Lee C. Truman, Jr., 89, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018.
The Owensboro native retired as a manager of Corporate and External Affairs from BellSouth Telephone in 1991. During a 39-year career in the Bell System, he held several managerial positions with the company in Kentucky and Louisiana.
In 1950 he earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and played for Coach Bear Bryant's first four Kentucky football teams and played in the University's first two bowl games.

Truman was a past president of the Bowling Green Rotary Club, United Way, and the Bowling Green Pioneer Club. He was a board member of the Chamber of Commerce, The Medical Center, Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Independent College Fund, University of Kentucky National Alumni Association and a UK Fellow. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. An avid tennis player, he participated in numerous senior tournaments in Bowling Green and across the state of Kentucky. He was a member of Calendar Literary Club and was a 15-year active member of the AARP-Tax Aide program.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Margaret "Peggy" Hughes Truman, a son David S. Truman and his companion Kim Beatty, of Monessen, PA., two daughters, Martha L. Truman and her spouse Kia J. Bentley of Richmond, VA., and Linda Truman Welch and her husband David of Bristol, TN., five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at The Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and 10 until 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
