Leslie "Red" McGehee, 87, of Owensboro, KY, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 1, 2018. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He faithfully served both God and country. He was of the Pentecostal faith and was an Army veteran. He worked for Green Coal Company and retired from Brown Badgett Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Melvin and Eula McGehee, a stepmother, Toy McGehee, two brothers, Gene and Estel McGehee, a sister, Nancy (William) Paige and a sister-in-law, Christil Belle McGehee.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Alice Crabtree McGehee; seven children, son, Dariel (Anna) McGehee of Owensboro, son, Danny (Judy) McGehee of Owensboro, daughter, Marcie (Carl) Roby of Louisville, son, Rex (Charlene) McGehee of Owensboro, and son, Alex (Dee Dee) McGehee of Owensboro, son, Jeff (Vicky) McGehee of Owensboro and a daughter, Chasidy (Willy) Fulks, of Owensboro; brother, Elmer E. (Katie) McGehee of Millwood; sisters, Angie (Doug) Powell of Elkton and Melda Dunn of Elkton; sister-in-law, Mary McGehee of Alabama; many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018 in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. The family wishes to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and the extraordinary care of the nurses and aides at Hospice of Western Kentucky's Heartford House for their kind and loving service to us during this difficult time.
