OWENSBORO, KY., — Mattie Edna Lewis-Hanley, 98 of Owensboro departed this life on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at her residence in Owensboro, KY. She was born June 5, 1920 in Yelvington, KY. She professed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the First Baptist Church of Maceo and later moved her letter to the Center Street Baptist Church where she served on the Mother’s Board and sang in the choir. She currently attended The Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY.
She was preceded in death by her parents Malcom Lewis, Sr. and Carrie Ethel Lewis, her husband Ardell Hanley, Sr., son Michael Hanley, brother Malcolm Lewis, Jr., and sister Thelma Harris.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories 1 son Ardell Hanley, Jr., Owensboro, 4 daughters Linda (Perry) Washington, Owensboro, Malinda Hanley, Owensboro, Patricia (Richard) Long of Owensboro, and Brenda Cowherd, Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren and 1 great grandson, several nieces and nephews, distant cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Services are at 12noon, Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Owensboro, KY.
Visitation 5pm – 7pm at the church on Wednesday and 10am – 12noon on Thursday. Burial in Elmwood – Rose Hill Cemetery, Owensboro, KY. Rev. Larry Lewis Officiating.
