Paula Marie Nichols

Paula Marie Moore McFarland Nichols, 80, of Owensboro, KY departed this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Owensboro on December 15,1943 to the late Paul Moore and Laura Mae Simmons Moore Henry.
 
She attended Western High School where she excelled both academically and organizationally. She retired from Commonwealth Aluminum (now, Commonwealth Rolled Products), Lewisport, KY where she was known to be the first African American female to be hired there.
 
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Gregory W. McFarland, who also departed his life on March 26 in the year 2020; her Grandparents, William T Simmons, Sr. and Margaret Jackson Simmons; a brother, James F. “Dickie” Moore, Sr.; and a sister Melvanna Louise Henry.
 
Paula was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. She loved to play the card game Spades and her children were her number one priority.
 
Loved ones left to mourn her loss include three children, Gail L. McFarland (fiancé, John Jefferson), Creasie Wynette Edwards (Greg), and Peter T “Nick” Nichols, III, all of Owensboro; two brothers, Rev. Dr. George T. Moore (Peggy) of Mason, OH and Forrest L “Buck” Henry (fiancé Paula) of Louisville, KY; 16 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
 
A funeral service to honor the life of Paula M. Nichols will be held at 11a.m. Monday April 1, 2024, at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 507 Plum St, Owensboro, KY 42301 with Rev. Dr. Jeremiah L. Parks, pastor, as Officiant and Eulogist. Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Committal service and Burial will follow the funeral at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro, KY.
