Raymond Louis Midkiff, 97, of Owensboro was called to his heavenly home Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023. He was born in Owensboro to the late Fon and Nina Igleheart Midkiff on April 25th, 1926. He was an active member of Dawson Baptist Church for 64 years. Past roles at Dawson include Deacon, Usher and Greeter for many years. He was a man of great faith and looked forward to meeting his heavenly father.
Raymond served in the Seabees during World War II and spent the majority of his tour on the Leyte- Smar Naval Base in the Philippines. Upon returning stateside he became an upholsterer and worked for Murphy Miller Chair for 20 years. He then went on to Whirlpool Corporation for the next twenty years. He also continued to manage his farm at Philpot until well after his retirement.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Mary Maxine Phillips Midkiff. He was also preceded by his sister, Esther Katherine Sublett; brother, Robert Earl Midkiff; and sister, Linda Caroline Lee.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Janet Green Midkiff of Vero Beach Florida; and a grandson Bradley Midkiff of Marysville, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, November 27, 2023 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
