Rebecca Danhauer

July 3, 1927 — January 26, 2019

Rebecca Jean Whittinghill Danhauer, 91, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019 at her home. Born in Owensboro on July 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Dexter Dean and Rena Massie Whittinghill and was a graduate of Owensboro High School, where she was a member of the marching band playing the clarinet. She also played piano in many recitals. During her youth she was a member of the Accordion Band and worked at McAtee, Lyddane & Ray department store. She graduated from Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, MS and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa—the Phi Beta Kappa for 2-year schools. Mrs. Danhauer was a girl scout leader as a young woman and is a Kentucky Colonel.
A member of First Baptist Church, she made the original Chrismon Tree ornaments under the leadership of Betty Gabbert, sang in the church choir, taught Vacation Bible School and served on the Women's Missionary Union Board. She also participated in mission groups, Bible studies, Discipleship Training groups, Jo Nelson's Prayer Group, and the Senior Adult Prayer Chain. She traveled to Israel and Italy with the church and was on mission trips to Las Vegas and Hong Kong.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Dean Whittinghill.
Surviving are daughters, Dee Dee Moran and her husband Mike Moran, Sr. of Lexington and Sally Ann Danhauer of Owensboro; grandsons, Mike Moran, Jr and Matthew Moran; and a great-granddaughter, Madeline Moran.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Paul Strahan officiating followed by burial in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no visitation on Wednesday.
