Rebecca Wells Duncan, 93, passed away April 3, 2018, while in the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born in Thruston, KY on August 12, 1924 to the late Robert and Henry Wells. Mrs. Duncan was a 1942 graduate of Daviess County High School. She attended Brescia University and later earned an art degree from Lake Sumter Community College in Florida. For many years, Mrs. Duncan catered in Daviess County and Western Kentucky. Mrs. Duncan also taught art at Lake Sumter for twenty-six years. She was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Duncan loved life and all it entailed. She loved God, gardening, flower arranging, sewing, cooking and her dogs. She was a gifted artist and many of her paintings grace the homes of her friends and family. Her greatest loves, however, were her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and people in general. Mrs. Duncan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Duncan; brothers, Robert and Joseph Wells; twin sisters, Elizabeth Heishman and Virginia Miles, and a grandson, James Alan Sauer.
Mrs. Duncan is survived by her sons, Samuel Presley Sauer (Sharon), Tommy Sauer (Donna), all of Stanley, KY, David Sauer (Anne) of Tennessee; daughter, Laura Sauer Basanta (Gene) of Illinois; grandchildren, John Sauer (Nicole) of Texas, Chris Sauer (Meghan Henson) of New York, Laura Palmer (David) of Pennsylvania, Jason Sauer of Louisville, KY, Will Basanta of California, Rob Basanta of Washington, Aaron and Adam Sauer of Louisiana; step-grandchildren, Tambra Wethington Will of Indiana and Jeff Wethington of Owensboro. She was also loved by thirteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandson, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2018 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Newman Baptist Church or Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue, Inc.
