Robert Harris

Robert Lee Harris, 89, of Owensboro, died on Monday, February 4, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital due to complications from pneumonia. He was born September 1, 1929 in Simpson County, KY to the late Maynard and Gladys Downing Harris. He retired after 31 years from Texas Gas as Director of Flight Operations and was an executive pilot. Robert graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1954 and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a Mason at Lodge 177 in Franklin, KY and was a member of Third Baptist Church where he was a head usher, treasurer, trustee, and was on the finance and building committees. Robert enjoyed Kentucky Wesleyan College basketball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Netta Oldham Harris and brothers, Billy Harris and Charles Harris.

Survivors include his sons, Robert "Doc" Harris (Pam) and Jeffery Dean Harris (Sherrie); four grandchildren, Emily Harris Wehrman (Reynolds), Hunter Harris (Taylor), Kelly Anne Harris and Katie Harris; six great-grandchildren, RaeLynn, Darby, William and Waitman Jackson, Mason Harris Russelburg and Georgia Louise Wehrman.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Entombment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
