Roberta Owen

Roberta Wilson Owen is no longer with us. She died on November 1st in the year of our Lord 2018. Roberta was born June 8, 1924, the second daughter of Robert L. and Louise Boyle Wilson. Roberta lived a long and happy life. She graduated from Owensboro High School, attended Western Kentucky University and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1947 where Kappa Delta was her sorority. You may have known her at Owensboro Daviess County Hospital where she was a medical lab technician, or working at the Farmers & Daviess County Tobacco Warehouses, or as a realtor with L. Steve Castlen, or substituting at OHS, or at the First Baptist Church. Roberta joined anything that seemed fun to her and left when her outspoken views didn't coincide with the majority. She was blessed with unusually great and true friends. She "belonged" to numerous families and joyously celebrated their birthdays and holidays. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh C. Owen in 2005; her brother, Martin G. Wilson in 2017; and her older sister, Frances W. Hammond. Survivors include her only son, David Owen; her sister, Louisa Wilson Lovett; and many nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in the chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation is from 12 to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. No flowers, it is too late now. Please send remembrances where it will do some good for people, not dogs.
