Ronald J. Busch, 65, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was a well- known Master Guitarist in the St. Louis area who performed extensively over his career. For over 42 years he taught music at the Ron Busch Guitar Studio School of Modern Music. He instructed across a wide range of instruments and styles, including jazz, rock, folk and classical. Many of his students formed ensembles which performed throughout the St. Louis area. After moving to Owensboro, he had played at First Presbyterian Church, with Back Alley Musicals, and other venues. Born in Chicago, Ron moved to St. Louis as a child. He attended the University of Arizona. An avid runner, he logged 100 miles a week and participated in marathons, including the Chicago Marathon, the St. Louis Marathon, and the Big Sur Marathon. He was well read, with interests in physics and science, and was an accomplished chef. His parents, Albert Busch and Geraldine "Gerri" Austin Busch Francis, preceded him in death
Mr. Busch is survived by his wife, Holly Stavis Busch; his brothers Alan Busch and Michael Grossman, both of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mr. Busch will be 3:00 p.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Temple Adath Israel in Owensboro or the charity of one's choice.
