Rose Alvey

July 30, 1943 — March 1, 2019

Rose Ellen Alvey, 75, of Owensboro passed away Friday at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born July 30, 1943 in McLean County to the late David James and Irene Tichenor James, Mrs. Alvey devoted her energies to raising and caring for her family. Being a kindhearted woman, she was known as the "neighborhood mom" with her house always being open to the kids who knew they could get a Little Debbie treat anytime. Rose loved cooking and family gatherings and you never left her house hungry. For fun, she enjoyed playing Bingo and hanging out with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Alvey also was preceded in death by her brother, Butch James and her sister, Deborah Bell.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 58 years, Charles R. Alvey; daughter, Susan Alvey; sons, Tony Alvey and wife Julie and Dwayne Alvey; four grandchildren, Sue Lindsey (Mike), Kyle Alvey (Megan), Ashley Alvey, and Brandy Guyette; seven great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Miller (Tim) and Brenda Mayes; brother, Benny James; special niece, Tiffany Baldwin (Kenny); several other nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Rose Alvey will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Franklin Skaggs officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 and Tuesday from 1:00 pm until time of service. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.
