Roy M. Hicks, Sr., 87, Owensboro, Kentucky died April 24, 2018 at Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest. He was born on February 26, 1931 in Owensboro, the son of the late Dayton and Nancy Hicks. He retired from Pinkerton Tobacco Company and was previously employed by Red Spot Paint & Glass. He was a member of Breckenridge Street United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Winkler in 2016; brothers, Dayton Hicks, Robert Hicks and Jack Hicks; sisters, Mary Lea Hicks, Bessie May Hanning, Lucille Hicks, Billie Heffelfinger, Edwina Scott, Bettye Haynes, Jeanne Hicks and Peggy Anne Hicks.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mildred Ann Hicks; sons, William E. Bollinger (Marna) of Lawrenceburg, KY and Roy M. Hicks, Jr. (Marie) of Owensboro and a son-in-law, Paul Winkler of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at the Chapel of James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro. Burial is in Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
