Shirley Buckley Crowe, 72, of Owensboro passed away Monday, February 12, 2018 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Mrs. Crowe was born May 27, 1945 in Sterling, Illinois to the late Charles and Bernice Buckley. Shirley met her future husband who was in the military in 1965 and followed him to Santa Barbara, California where they married in 1967. After the birth of their first son, they returned to Owensboro where he was from. She worked for We Care Childcare for 6 years and then stayed home and raised her family which had now grown to two rambunctious boys. Shirley was small in stature but filled with spunk and energy. She was always volunteering for different activities especially the VFW auxiliary where she served as secretary. In her rare spare time she enjoyed working with ceramics.
Mrs. Crowe also was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Crowe, in 2016 and six brothers, Charles, Brendan, Tim, Bob, Tom, and Joseph Buckley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, John Crowe II and Michael Shane Crowe both of Owensboro; four grandsons, John Crowe III, Joseph Crowe, Christopher Crowe, and Devin Crowe; step granddaughter, Christine Bartlett; two step grandchildren, Bryson and Brooklyn Bartlett; a sister, Mary Buckley of Tucson, Arizona.
Services will be private.
