Theda Vance, 87, of Owensboro, gained her heavenly wings to be reunited with her son, Donnie, on Sunday, April 15, 2018 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Born on October 20, 1930 in Owensboro to the late Golman and Marian Fenwick. She moved to Florida in 1963 and spent many years working in the Osceola County Schools as a baker. She and her son moved back to Owensboro in 2010. Theda enjoyed her vacations, flea markets and garage sales. She was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Francis Donald Church Jr., a niece, Cindy Basham and a nephew, David Brown.
Those left to mourn her passing include her sister, Beverly Hancock; two nephews, David Hancock (Debbie) and Wally Hancock Jr.; and a niece, Tammy Dunn (Tom); as well as a host of nieces and nephews, including two namesakes, Theda Gilbreath and Theda Jordan.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to donor's favorite charity.
