Viola Powers

May 16, 1929 — March 21, 2018

iola (Tootsie) Mount Powers of Owensboro, passed away at Owensboro Center nursing facility. She was born May 16, 1929 to the late Cassie Watson Napier and Jessie Andrew Napier. Viola was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and attended Owensboro Christian Church. She was a devoted U.K. Basketball fan, enjoyed traveling and meeting new people. She was retired from the Daviess County School System.

Viola was also preceded in death by the father of her children and first husband, George Allen Mount, and her second husband Thomas L. Powers; her beloved foster parents, William H. and Ann Price; four brothers, James Moses Napier, Wade Anderson Napier, Bernard R. Napier, and Bobby Earl Napier.

Precious memories will remain in the hearts of her four children, Angela Mount Franey, Pam Mount Rowley (Bob), Allen E. Mount, Dee Ann Mount Rice (Tommy); seven grandchildren, Cassidy Hawkins, Austin Rice, Kyle Rice, Jessica L. Franey, Rachel Franey Granade, William Ben Franey, Corey Rowley and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wanda Ralph Whetsel and Mary Lee Wilkins and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Sunday and after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
