Wanda Mae Ford Payne, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 14, 1932 in Daviess Co. to the late Randolph and Lillian Snodgrass Ford. Wanda was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and retired from General Electric and M.P.D. after 32 years of service. She loved spending time with family and friends, was an avid U.K. basketball fan, and cooking, especially desserts. Wanda and her husband were owners of the former Payne's Barbeque Restaurant.
Wanda was also preceded in death by her husband, William Hanley Payne, Sr. on January 21, 1995, three daughters, Betty Klein, Catherine Payne, and Rose Payne, three sisters, Pauline Jewell, Shirley Wilkey, and Barbara Cooper, and two brothers, Buddy Ford and Jesse Ford.
Surviving are her children, Judy Hurm of Owensboro, William H. Payne, Jr. and wife Victoria of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Joyce Payne of Owensboro, and Linda Dant and husband David of Owensboro, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a son-in-law, Edward Klein of Louisville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass for Wanda Payne will be Noon Friday, May 10, at St. Stephen Cathedral. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 PM until 8 PM Thursday with prayers at 7 PM and from 10 AM until 11:30 AM Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
